Global IP content studio EO Contents Group unveiled its first short-form drama 'Check in with the queen'.
EO Contents Group released the original short-form drama 'Check in with the queen' on the domestic short-form drama platform Vigloo beginning on the 14th. The work, produced as a total of 48 episodes, is a genre piece combining mystery, fantasy and romantic comedy starring actors Kim Na-yoon, Shin Woo-bin, Kim Dong-gyu and Han Tae-hee.
'Check in with the queen' draws attention as EO Contents Group's first short-form drama, coming from a company recognized for its competitiveness in the romance genre through producing premium long-form dramas such as Love Scout and Head Over Heels. It combines the emotional arcs and character-centered narratives accumulated through existing long-form dramas with the short-form format's characteristic fast pacing and strong immersion to achieve differentiated completeness.
The story begins when Queen Kim Dan-hee of the Joseon dynasty wakes up at a modern-day pension. With her memory lost, Dan-hee lives in the present and becomes involved with three men who each possess different charms, but behind their relationships lies a mystery surrounding lost memories, past secrets and an unidentified figure. As she unravels each incident, Dan-hee chooses her life and love as an individual, Kim Dan-hee, rather than as the Joseon queen.
In particular, the biggest differentiating point of 'Check in with the queen' is its combination of romance with mystery and time-slip fantasy. Moving beyond simple romance and revenge narratives, it adds a plot that pursues the secrets of memory and the identities of characters, increasing tension. Even within the excitement and lightheartedness typical of romantic comedy in each episode, new clues and twists are placed to deliver high immersion within a short running time.
Momoland member Na-yoon plays Kim Dan-hee, the Joseon queen, portraying her adaptation to modern society in a delightful yet delicate way. Shin Woo-bin leads the drama as Choi Do-young, Kim Dong-gyu plays Park Seung-woo, taking on another romantic axis, and Han Tae-hee adds tension to the work as Kim Min-kyu. The four actors complete the romance and mystery with their distinct charms.
EO Contents Group CEO Oh Eun-young said, "'Check in with the queen' is our first work that expands the romance production know-how accumulated through long-form drama production into short-form grammar," adding, "We wanted to present premium content in which character growth and emotions, mystery and twists come alive even in short form."
She added, "We plan to continue producing content that is loved by domestic and international viewers across various formats, including films, long-form dramas, mid-form and short-form."
