SEVENTEEN member Dino's alter ego Picheolin awakens the nation's excitement with a new song that zeroes in on 1990s street sensibilities.
PLEDIS Entertainment Co. on the 20th abruptly revealed an image of Picheolin's mini 1st album '吉BOARD (Gilboard)' tracklist via SEVENTEEN's official SNS channels.
According to the released tracklist, the new record includes the title track '놀아보세 (prod. Hitchhiker)', the pre-released '아프지 않은 이별은 없다 (narr. Lee Moon-sae)' which was released on the 15th, the song scheduled for release on the 22nd '미쳐 미쳐', '정말 (prod. Lee Hyun-do of DEUX)', '정으로 사랑으로', '짠 (feat. DINO)', 'LIKE IT' and a total of seven tracks spanning diverse genres.
The most eye-catching track is undoubtedly the title song '놀아보세'. This song reinterprets Korea's distinctive '흥' sensibility with a refined EDM trap sound and carries a cheerful message of "let's all open up the floor and have fun together." In particular, Hitchhiker, a producer who was formerly with the band Rollercoaster and has created numerous hit songs in the K-pop scene, participated in the lyrics, composition and overall arrangement, raising the song's completeness.
The lineup of included songs is equally dazzling. '정말,' a 1990s new jack swing track produced by Lee Hyun-do of the legendary hip-hop duo DEUX, is notable for its heartfelt lyrics directed at Picheolin's fandom, Chunsunies. Also, track 6 '정으로 사랑으로' layers warm, comforting lyrics over a familiar melody to deliver a soothing emotional impact.
This album also offers a glimpse of the intriguing meeting between alter ego Picheolin and original persona Dino. Dino participates as a featured artist on the first track '짠', and on the final song 'LIKE IT' he delivers a weighty sincerity in his own Dino voice with the line "I feel truly alive when I dance for you." Above all, Dino is credited with writing lyrics for all the album's songs and took a leading role in composing six tracks except for '짠', demonstrating his exceptional all-arounder capabilities.
Picheolin's first mini album '吉BOARD' reinterprets the 'gilboard' that symbolized 1990s street culture from his own unique perspective, weaving various genres together with Korean '흥.' The pre-release song '아프지 않은 이별은 없다' entered the worldwide iTunes song charts for four consecutive days and rose to sixth on Instagram's 'rising audio' chart, signaling an unusual storm even before release.
Meanwhile, the new record '吉BOARD,' which showcases the true face of the 'street's all-purpose producer' Picheolin, will be released on Aug. 3. Ahead of that, the music video teaser for the track '미쳐 미쳐' will be released at noon on the 21st, and the song itself will be unveiled at 6 p.m. on the 22nd.
