A former manager who alleged abuse of power by broadcaster Park Na-rae was arrested on attempted extortion.
On the 21st, Park Na-rae's side told OSEN, "I heard that former manager A was arrested on the 16th. The police will hand the case over to the prosecution. I understand he is currently detained in a detention center."
According to an earlier media report, Seoul Yongsan Police Station is known to have arrested former manager A of Park Na-rae on the 16th on charges including attempted extortion.
A is accused of claiming that Park Na-rae used company funds for personal purposes such as for an ex-boyfriend and demanding an amount equivalent to 10% of the company's 2024 sales from Park Na-rae.
Meanwhile, Park Na-rae is facing allegations of abuse of power against former managers and illegal medical procedures. The former managers said they suffered harms from "power abuse," including workplace harassment while employed, proxy prescriptions and unpaid production fees, and in December last year sued Park for defamation and violation of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection.
In response, Park Na-rae's side filed countercharges of extortion and embezzlement related to business against the former managers, showing sharply opposing positions.
