Girls' Generation member Tiffany Young candidly shared her thoughts on Hyori-soo's popularity.
Tiffany Young conducted an interview for the musical 'Yumi's Cells' on the afternoon of the 21st at the Seoul Arts Center located in Law and The City, Seocho-gu, Seoul. Performing for the first time in an original musical, Tiffany Young was completely immersed in 'Yumi'.
'Yumi's Cells' is a work well known as a webtoon and a drama starring Kim Go-eun. Adapted for the stage as a musical for the first time, the work portrays the everyday life of ordinary office worker Kim Yumi and relatable daily moments from the perspective of the cells in her head, giving audiences emotion and lingering resonance.
Recently, Girls' Generation members Yoona, Sooyoung and Sunny attended Tiffany Young's performance and drew attention. About the members' reactions, Tiffany Young said, "The members were so moved they were looking at the ceiling while holding back tears. They really enjoyed it and said, 'Creation seems like an amazing undertaking.'" She added, "Friends who know me better than anyone were moved and empathized after seeing the piece, which was a great source of strength and comfort for me. Some members read the original webtoon in real time. They already knew all the information and that may have made it more enjoyable for them."
She also mentioned feedback she received from members. Girls' Generation members frequently give each other feedback on their activities. Tiffany Young said, "We are the type to give each other a lot of notes. Among the members, we are actually the most frank with each other. Because Sooyoung is performing 'The Merchant of Venice' next to me, she gave clearer feedback," noting that she received line feedback.
She added, "I have received so many very fun pieces of feedback. The professional, brutally honest feedback was very helpful. I'm always so happy the members support me so much," and said, "Sooyoung is the most frank but she also praises a lot. She writes down strengths and also notes weaknesses."
Known for still boasting close friendships, Girls' Generation is approaching its 20th anniversary next year. Recently, members Hyoyeon, Yuri and Sooyoung gathered and formed Hyori-soo, saying they would take on TaeTiSeo (Taeyeon, Tiffany, Seohyun), drawing attention.
Tiffany Young laughed, saying, "(Hyori-soo's momentum) is scary," and said, "They keep showing me their work and say, 'Your choreography is really cool. The song is really good. Girls' Generation should be receiving this too.' Thanks to Hyori-soo, I'm having fun. I thought about turning on the videos after a long time and having a laugh. Hyori-soo has made me laugh a lot and seems to be the driving force for the 20th anniversary," showing her unchanged affection.
Believing herself to be the founder of Hyori-soo, Tiffany Young said, "TaeTiSeo was born while Girls' Generation was on hiatus. It was, 'Let's try this once so we can extend Girls' Generation's longevity.' At that time, when girl groups reached four to five years, people wondered, 'Could Girls' Generation do it again?' TaeTiSeo prepared with fiery momentum and, receiving much love, promoted for a long time. I feel very proud that Hyori-soo seems to be continuing in that vein."
She added, "In our 19th year there are really many idol juniors, and I'm so proud that our friends are receiving attention now. I think Girls' Generation will do even better for the 20th anniversary."
Girls' Generation is planning a comeback next year to mark its 20th anniversary. Tiffany Young said, "We have started (preparations for the 20th anniversary)," adding, "We are focusing on the 20th anniversary. Still, we are holding quarterly meetings," and asked fans to look forward to it.
