Actor Suh You-jung spoke about "celebrity worries" and frankly shared her current financial situation.
In a video posted on her YouTube channel on the 20th, Suh You-jung opened by saying, "People say you don't have to worry about celebrities. But that's only for some, only some."
She went on, "I haven't been active for quite a while and the money I had is all gone. People think I'm very rich. But actually I've been joking about it here, saying I have no money, no money, but I really don't have money," she said.
She added, "But there's nothing shameful about not having money. Money can be there and then gone, and it can be gone and then appear," and expressed her belief, "What is shameful is that I lack decency as a person, not that I don't have money."
She also said, "People do misunderstand and think I must have a lot of money. And they think I probably send my child to a lot of academies. But actually I don't send them to that many. Other parents send their kids to maybe four or five," adding, "That kind of feeling comes. The feeling of falling behind because you can't give everything to my child. Struggling alone. Wanting to give everything to my child is a parent's greed," she said, expressing remorse about her child.
Still, she did not lose her positive side. Suh You-jung showed a spirited attitude, saying, "And now I don't have (money), but is there a law that says I won't have it next year?" She then added, "What if I still don't have it next year?" which drew a cheerful laugh.
Suh You-jung is scheduled to return to her main profession through the KBS 2TV daily drama "A Trap Called Desire," which premieres on Aug. 10.
Meanwhile, Suh You-jung married in 2017 and welcomed a daughter in 2019, but announced a belated divorce on her social media in February 2023. She said on YouTube that she had been separated from her ex-husband since their daughter was eight months old. Since then she has been balancing work and parenting as a single mother and has received strong support from fans.
