Singer Jang Yoon Jeong's mother was arrested on charges of an investment fraud involving tens of millions of won and handed over to prosecutors.
According to police on the 21st, the Seoul Songpa Police Station recently forwarded Ms. Yook, the mother of Jang Yoon Jeong, who is accused of fraud, after arresting her.
Police began an investigation after receiving a victim's complaint but were reportedly unable to locate Ms. Yook for a time. Her whereabouts could not be determined because there was no trace of mobile phone use or credit card transactions.
After tracking her, police confirmed Ms. Yook's whereabouts and took her into custody, and last week a court issued an arrest warrant. After investigating the specific details of the alleged crimes, police judged the charges to be substantiated and forwarded Ms. Yook to prosecutors.
Meanwhile, Ms. Yook is accused of receiving tens of millions of won from an acquaintance under the guise of investment and failing to pay the promised revenue.
