Actor Kim Hyung-mook shared his feelings after finishing Recipe For Love.
On the morning of the 20th, at a cafe in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam District, Seoul, a closing interview with Kim Hyung-mook for KBS 2TV's Recipe For Love was held.
In Recipe For Love, Kim Hyung-mook meets viewers as Yang Dong-ik, an oriental medicine doctor at Yangjibareun Oriental Medicine Clinic. With his characteristic cheeky charm and humane acting, he injected energy into the drama and has been receiving praise.
On the day, Kim Hyung-mook said of his closing thoughts, "It's hard to define in one word how much I loved it; I felt so empty I couldn't sleep. And I want to watch it periodically." He added, "I received many offers for projects, but I loved this so much that I wanted to focus and didn't take other works."
When asked why he loved it so much, he said, "First, the director, the writer and the senior and junior colleagues I worked with were so good. It was good every time I worked on a project, but this felt special. We felt like family. I felt that the family and the character were me, and although I always feel that way, this felt special."
Asked whether he felt it from the moment he received the script, Kim Hyung-mook said, "I felt it from the start. At the meeting with the director and the writer they showed affection for me, and when I asked roughly about the character's backstory I said I like characters with wounds. They said this wounded character grows and changes. I liked that I could try such emotional characters and situational acting."
In particular, Kim Hyung-mook said, "It reminds me of my grandmother and parents; when I was young I watched a lot of weekend dramas. It was an area I wanted to try at least once, and I think it was the right timing to talk with good people about a good story."
Shooting a weekend drama was his first time, and it was also his first time filming with such long breaths. He said, "It was my first time filming on a set. It was so fun. My fellow senior and junior actors said it was really fun and well done." He added, "Maybe because I started on the theater stage, it sometimes felt like theater. Doing a drama with long breaths made me really feel like I became that character, and I liked that. It was good to be able to try various situations in acting."
