Actor Kim Hyung-muk spoke about his future plans.
On the 20th morning at a café in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, KBS 2TV 'Recipe For Love' Kim Hyung-muk's wrap-up interview was held.
In 'Recipe For Love', Kim Hyung-muk meets viewers as Yang Dong-ik, a Korean medicine doctor at Yangji Bareun Korean Medicine Clinic. He has been praised for infusing energy into the drama with his characteristic playful charm and humane performance.
When asked about his impressions of working with So Yi-hyun as his on-screen wife, he said, "Meeting I-hyun was a miracle. I-hyun told me, 'I think you'd get along well with Gyo-jin oppa.' When I kept praising I-hyun, she herself said, 'There's no one as pretty and as kind as me.' I didn't care about awards, but I want to win best couple with Seung-soo hyung and I-hyun," he said.
He added, "Acting is teamwork with colleagues, and it shone the most. She is so positive and our ad-libs and back-and-forth were so well matched. Even without joking, she gradually grows and comes to love Se-ri, and when acting she made it so believable that she truly loved Se-ri, which made it so fun."
Kim Hyung-muk said, "When I told I-hyun this, she joked, 'Oppa, don't come out of it.' I'm really thankful to have met such a great partner. I haven't met Gyo-jin in person, but when she did 'Sugar', I-hyun once came with her father and mother and Gyo-jin. If there's an opportunity I'd like to get closer, and while I-hyun is a great partner she is also a wonderful senior in the media and a junior in acting."
If meeting So Yi-hyun was a miracle, Kim Seung-soo was a blessing. Kim Hyung-muk confessed, "Meeting Seung-soo hyung really felt like a blessing. I hope to win best couple with Seung-soo hyung and receive it together with I-hyun. He treated me like a friend, and we shared ideas and it was so good; I wondered if I could meet another senior like him — it was a happily fulfilling project."
Although Yang Dong-ik in the drama is a character who is married and has a son, Kim Hyung-muk, born in 1974, is still single. He said, "While doing this role I said, 'If there's a woman like Cha Se-ri, I'd definitely get married.' I-hyun said, 'Oppa, there's no woman like that.' I thought I should become that kind of man," and added, "I wasn't strictly against not marrying, but my thinking has changed a lot. In fact, many dating shows have reached out, but I declined. I think it should be done sincerely, and while working I believe there will be a better timing."
Asked if he still wants more for his career, he said, "Don't you think I came too late? I still feel like I haven't even started. I think many people involved in casting or industry officials don't know me. I want to be an actor who can elevate a work, but if I don't do well, that might not happen."
Kim Hyung-muk said, "I will definitely go to Hollywood. I'm studying English hard, and you saw me speak Chinese, right?" He promised, "I think there are still many sides of me I haven't shown. Film, drama, concerts, even dance. I talked with the new agency CEO about doing Asia and North America tours, and I will show various sides of myself."
Kim Hyung-muk explained, "Because I delayed media exposure to gain life experience, I don't limit myself to that kind of popularity, money or fame, and I think those experiences have helped. My mindset is still young. I want to become a middle-aged idol."
Finally, about his future plans he said, "The plan is to work through acting, relieve stress through acting, and be happy through acting. When I actually leave, isn't it great to eat good food and see good scenery? Who you go with is important, and I plan to travel for work."
