From Lee Jung-eun to Kong Hyojin, the much-anticipated film Gyeongju trip, which brings together actors known for strong performances, is coming to audiences.
Korea's representative character actors Lee Jung-eun, Kong Hyojin, Park So-dam and Lee Yeon meet as one family and have attracted attention in the film Gyeongju trip (screenplay and director Kim Mi-jo, presented by Lotte Entertainment·Michigan Venture Capital Co., distributor Lotte Entertainment, produced by Studio High Five, co-produced by Euphoria ENT), which released its teaser trailer.
The film Gyeongju trip, which is confirmed to open on Aug. 26, has unveiled its teaser trailer. Gyeongju trip is a family revenge drama that depicts four mothers and daughters who, after eight years of waiting for their youngest daughter Gyeongju who did not return from a school trip, embark on a 'killer' trip.
The newly released trailer begins with the mother Oksil (Lee Jung-eun) with a grim expression and the three sisters Jang-ju (Kong Hyojin), Young-ju (Park So-dam) and Dong-ju (Lee Yeon) carrying an unidentified heavy object, instantly heightening immersion.
"We kidnapped the murderer who killed my daughter" creates tension with its shocking premise, while the yellow van endlessly driving on a foggy road, an awkward family photo taken in matching uniforms, the suspicious behavior of the four mothers and daughters playing tag in a paddy ridge in broad daylight and the presence inside a black plastic bag arouse curiosity. Added to this are the lines "the trip is an alibi, the purpose is revenge" and "the family trip that will kill as planned begins," promising various genre pleasures amid unpredictable developments, from a desperate chase to car chases and fierce hand-to-hand combat.
Gyeongju trip is director Kim Mi-jo's first commercial film, who proved solid directing skills with her debut film Seagull, and it has been steadily invited to prominent film festivals such as the Hawaii International Film Festival and the Florence Korean Film Festival even before its release, drawing attention.
In addition, Korea's representative character actors add credibility by appearing en masse. Irreplaceable actor Lee Jung-eun, who boasts a wide acting spectrum, leads the drama as the mother Oksil; Kong Hyojin, who has captivated the public with her distinctive, relatable performances, plays the eldest Jang-ju; Park So-dam, who has shown delicate emotional acting and a radiant presence, plays the second daughter Young-ju; and Lee Yeon, noted for her multifaceted charm and outstanding acting, joins as the third daughter Dong-ju, presenting a genuine family ensemble.
Gyeongju trip, which announces the birth of a different kind of family revenge drama at theaters this summer, will be in theaters nationwide on Aug. 26 (Wed).
Meanwhile, Gyeongju trip is a work centered on a female narrative that is rarely seen in Korean cinema, and the lead roles are largely filled by actresses. Expectations are high for what kind of work has been created.
