Singer-songwriter HANRORO is accelerating her global activities, stepping beyond Korea to perform on the stage of Japan's premier music festival.
HANRORO was added to the lineup for the large-scale music festival "Summer Sonic 2026 (SUMMER SONIC 2026)", which will be held in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan, from Aug. 14 to 16. Among these, at 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 14 she will take the Pacific Stage at Makuhari Messe in Tokyo and meet local audiences for the first time.
"Summer Sonic" is one of Japan's largest music festivals, featuring world-renowned artists. This will be HANRORO's first performance in Japan, and it is expected to be a meaningful stage for introducing her musical world to global music fans.
This appearance also signals HANRORO's expansion of activities to overseas stages after steadily building musical achievements. After establishing a solid fan base in Korea, stepping onto the stage of a representative Japanese festival is expected to help her take another step forward as a global artist.
According to the Circle Chart midyear settlement of account for 2026 released on the 11th by the Korea Popular Music Industry Association, HANRORO won two crowns by topping both the digital chart and the streaming chart with her self-composed song "I will fall in love".
"I will fall in love" recorded a Circle index of 315,527,555 and not only topped the digital chart but also claimed the highest position on the streaming chart, establishing itself as a representative hit of the first half of the year.
In particular, although the song was included on a 2023 album, it succeeded in reversing course and gaining momentum through word of mouth. From the 48th week of last year through the first half of this year, it consistently remained in the weekly digital chart top 10, sustaining long-term success, and it became HANRORO's signature song by drawing empathy across generations. It was all the more meaningful because it was a self-composed song written and composed by HANRORO herself.
HANRORO has also been recognized for her distinctive musicality by achieving a series of significant accomplishments, including winning the rock & ballad category at the 35th Seoul music awards and being selected as South Korea's representative artist in YouTube's global artist development program "2026 Foundry".
