Singer IU is postponing her Goyang concert and album release schedule due to eustachian tube dysfunction.
EDAM Entertainment said in an official statement on the 20th, "Our company and IU recently determined that her ear condition makes it difficult to proceed with performances. Considering her health as the top priority and after careful discussion, we have decided to adjust the subsequent concert schedule, including the Goyang Stadium performance that had been scheduled for September this year, as well as the schedule for her sixth full-length album."
They added, "However, the symptoms IU is experiencing are not a condition that greatly interferes with daily life, and this was a decision made to show fans the best possible condition on stage," and said, "Our company will do its best to support IU's recovery of health."
IU also posted her own statement on the fan platform the same day about the cancellation of the concert and album release.
First, IU explained, "Recently, the chronic eustachian tube dysfunction I have been dealing with has been getting worse. I have been managing and being careful in my own way, but the weather seems to have some effect... Considering my condition over the past few years, I think I may have pushed myself a bit too hard out of a desire to work. My ear symptoms have always fluctuated, but recently the symptoms have persisted day and night for several days, and situations where I couldn't find my condition when singing kept repeating."
She continued, "Still, I somehow found my own method in the recording studio, and fortunately I was able to make the album without major strain. Having lived with this condition for several years, daily life is not greatly impacted, but singing is directly linked to the condition of my ears, and experts said that, unlike studio recording, conducting concerts with a large range of activity and heavy sweating would be too much for the time being."
IU said, "Even I feel that with my current condition, the September performance would be too much," and apologized to fans, saying, "In fact, we were planning a national tour starting with the Goyang concert this year. I was going to greet everyone passionately in Goyang and start the national tour with the ninth-generation Uena. Because of my ear condition, I feel like I've ruined the second half of 2026, which could have been happy for all of us, and I'm truly sorry."
Regarding the postponement not only of the concert but also of the release of her sixth full-length album, IU said, "Because the album's main promotion was centered on performances and a tour, the album is inseparable from the tour, so inevitably the album's release timing will have to be pushed back a bit," and added, "I am so sorry that words alone cannot fully convey my apology."
IU said, "But I will do my best to ensure that the wait does not become too long, and I will do everything I can to show and play the new album and performances to Uena as soon as possible. I will receive treatment, take the best possible measures, devote myself to improving my condition in the second half of the year, and do my best so that at least the beginning of 2027 we can definitely be together."
