Singer Koo Jun-yeob is reported to be staying by his late wife Seoheewon's side despite reports of mounting disputes following her death.
Recently, local Taiwanese media reported that Koo Jun-yeob is engaged in a dispute over the inheritance of the late Seoheewon.
Local media reported that Koo Jun-yeob has not given up on inheriting the late Seoheewon's estate and is entering mediation procedures with the late wife's ex-husband, Wang Sobi, for the division of the inheritance. Reports also emerged that the mother-in-law demanded that he sign documents renouncing the inheritance, but Koo Jun-yeob did not comply.
Regarding the report, some said it differed from statements Koo Jun-yeob had made. Koo Jun-yeob had said about Seoheewon's inheritance, "I plan to give all authority concerning me to my mother-in-law."
However, Koo Jun-yeob has remained largely silent on the matter. There were recent eyewitness reports that he visited the late Seoheewon's grave and shed tears, but he has not issued any particular statement.
On the 20th, MHN Sports conducted an interview with a close aide who has had a long relationship with Koo Jun-yeob and clarified related rumors.
According to the report, the close aide A drew a line, saying the reports of family conflicts over Seoheewon's inheritance are "not true." A said, "Jun-yeob doesn't care about this issue itself."
The close aide said Koo Jun-yeob is still staying in Taiwan, adding, "He doesn't pick up calls from Korea often. When I spoke to him on the phone recently, he was by Seohee's side," and continued, "There are no problems with the family. If anything, they are getting along very well," explaining, "The mother-in-law even cooks food herself for Jun-yeob."
Furthermore, the close aide said Koo Jun-yeob moved his residence closer to Seoheewon's grave, saying, "The cemetery was too far. It was not easy to commute two hours round trip every day. So he moved closer, and as that situation was distorted, many stories came out."
Finally, the close aide added, "There are actually no problems among the family. It is only regrettable that other stories continue to come out."
Meanwhile, the late Seoheewon suddenly passed away from acute pneumonia while traveling in Japan on Feb. 2 last year. She was 48. After Seoheewon's death, Koo Jun-yeob visited Jinbaoshan, where the late woman was staying, every day to watch over the gravesite, and on the 2nd he held an unveiling ceremony for a memorial sculpture he personally designed on the first anniversary.
