Interest is focusing on Chloe Fineman's relationships with colleagues as she leaves NBC's flagship comedy program Saturday Night Live (SNL).
On the 18th (local time), according to U.S. entertainment outlet Page Six, immediately after Chloe Fineman released her departure from SNL after seven seasons, an internal source claimed that she had maintained strained relationships with some cast members.
One source said, "Chloe was very close with some cast members, but she didn't get along well with everyone," and added, "There were times when she gave people a bad impression." The source continued, "Some cast members felt Chloe expected others to accommodate her schedule and tastes," and claimed, "She seemed to think everyone would adjust to her."
However, the source added, "That does not mean there were serious conflicts," and said, "It did not escalate to major fights or confrontations."
By contrast, another SNL source drew a line under those claims. He told Page Six, "Those stories are not true."
Earlier, SNL cast member Ego Nwodim noted that, given the nature of the program, competition over airtime and performance is intense. She said, "You end up focusing only on whether your sketch airs or not, and situations can arise where you envy someone else's success."
Meanwhile, Page Six earlier reported that the addition of new cast members influenced Chloe Fineman's decision to leave SNL. It said she chose a new challenge amid the presence of newcomers such as Ashley Padiya and Veronika Słowiakowska.
In particular, Fineman reportedly decided to leave shortly after receiving an offer to appear in the new Netflix drama Myron Bolitar, produced by David E. Kelley.
An industry source said, "Everything moved quickly in a single day," adding, "Chloe agonized over it, but ultimately judged it an opportunity she could not refuse. Having completed seven seasons and with new faces joining, this was probably the most appropriate time to leave."
