Actor Shin Hyun-joon sets out to find his high school homeroom teacher from his third year of high school who changed his life.
Channel A's Detectives' Trade Secrets, airing at 10 p.m. on the 20th, will feature 36-year veteran actor Shin Hyun-joon as a client revealing a special story about searching for the teacher who guided him 40 years ago.
That day Shin Hyun-joon said, "I really want to find the homeroom teacher from my third year of high school who changed my life," and sought out the detective team. During his school years he was a promising player, placing in various tennis tournaments and even appearing as a cover model for a specialty magazine. Following his father's wishes, he entered Yonsei University's Department of Physical Education, but his dream of becoming an actor gradually grew in his heart.
At a crossroads in his life, Shin Hyun-joon happened upon an audition notice for new actors in director Im Kwon-taek's film "The General's Son," and he continued to worry without easily telling his parents. What came to mind at that moment was a remark from his third-year high school homeroom teacher. The teacher's encouragement gave him the courage to pursue a new path as an actor, and Shin Hyun-joon ultimately debuted as Hayashi in the 1990 film "The General's Son," rising to stardom.
But now, 40 years later, it is presumed that the homeroom teacher who was in their 30s to 40s at the time would be in their 80s. Shin Hyun-joon said, "I worry when I think about the teacher's age. I just hope they are still alive," showing a choked-up emotion that moved viewers. Whether he will be able to reunite with the mentor he has kept in his heart for many years is drawing attention.
In the studio, the MCs' school day memories continue. Kim Poong recalled that his third-grade elementary homeroom teacher advised his parents, "Poong has no talent for art, so he needs to learn art," and he said, "At the time it was painful, but thanks to that I attended an art academy and eventually became a webtoon artist," expressing his gratitude.
Defconn also revealed an anecdote about his sixth-grade elementary homeroom teacher. He said, "The teacher told my parents, 'Dae-jun is like a top. You have to spin him to make him go back,' " prompting laughter, and added, "After that my parents really raised me like a top. They made who I am today," which caused uproarious laughter.
Meanwhile, Kim Min-su of popular comedy crew Psick University, which has 2.83 million subscribers, appears as a one-day detective on the broadcast. Appearing while shouting the catchphrase of his character "mountaineering club president Kim Young-nam," "You said let's eat baeksuk! passion! passion! passion!," he confidently said, "I am 80% of Psick University," drawing laughs.
In response, Defconn retorted, "If you want to object, Jung Jae-hyung and Lee Yongju should appear on Detectives' Trade Secrets," foreshadowing a pleasant war of words.
