Group UNIS is filling this summer with refreshing emotions and is stepping on the gas for a global hit run.
Unis (Hyeonju, Nana, Gehlee, Kotoko, Bang Yunha, Elicia, O Yuna, Lim Seowon) will officially release their first Japanese mini album 'UNI☆Sparkle!' on the 31st.
Earlier, on the 17th the group focused global fans' attention by releasing the music video for the title track 'GimmeSummer☆(ギミサマ☆)' of their first Japanese mini album 'UNI☆Sparkle!(ユニ☆スパクル!)'.
The released music video unfolds refreshingly against the backdrop of Okinawa's blue sea, dazzling beaches and exotic streets. The beautiful scenery filling the screen and the members' lively, fresh visuals created perfect synergy, elevating the uniquely crisp and energetic mood of summer.
It captures the strong friendship of the Unis members on a school trip and a page of radiant youth like a single fresh film. The girls enjoying summer leisurely on the beach, watching fireworks under the night sky and building memories together give viewers overwhelming excitement. In particular, the video added stylish direction that looks like peering into camcorder footage here and there, fully targeting an analog Y2K sensibility.
Choreographer Makita Sako, who led a major challenge craze locally, directed the video and completed the most memorable point choreography that maximized Unis's lively and bouncy charm, adding even more fun to watching the video.
Unis's first summer song and title track 'GimmeSummer☆' is a song that lovingly portrays the real youth and summer excitement of girls for whom both love and friendship are precious from the members' perspective. This new album includes a total of five tracks: the title track, the new song 'BBYBBY', and Japanese versions of existing hit songs 'moshimoshi♡', 'mwah…', and 'SWICY'.
In particular, this comeback is the first physical release in Japan since their second Japanese digital single 'mwah...' released in December last year, about seven months ago, making it all the more meaningful to fans as Unis's first physical album in Japan since their debut.
Since their debut Unis has built a solid footing across Asia, including Japan, China and the Philippines, and recently demonstrated their strength by successfully completing their first North American tour. They have also proved unstoppable growth on the global stage, being named festival headliners, so attention is already focused on the global results they will achieve with this first Japanese mini album.<
