Two Months members Do Dae-yoon and Kim Ye-rim, who took the same stage for the first time in 13 years, opened up about the pain of the hiatus and their sincere feelings for each other.
On the 17th broadcast of KBS2's Happy Together, Two Months, appearing together for the first time in a long while, revealed the reason for their activity suspension and behind-the-scenes of their reunion.
The two, who formed their team through a New York audition, looked back, saying, "Actually, we weren't close originally," and "We awkwardly became a team, but perhaps that freshness and awkwardness came across to many people as excitement."
They also directly revealed the reason they stopped activities. Do Dae-yoon confessed, "I suffered from severe bipolar disorder and had to rest for a long time," adding, "At the time the overall pressure was overwhelming and it coincided with puberty. I kept bottling up the stress alone, and eventually I became ill." He added, "My desire to escape reality grew, so I returned to the United States."
Both conveyed special emotions about returning to the stage together after a long time. Kim Ye-rim said, "I've worked with various musicians, but I again felt that Dae-yoon really supported my voice well. We were a truly good combination." Do Dae-yoon also expressed his overwhelmed feelings, saying, "It was a feeling hard to put into words. It was so astonishing that I wondered, 'Is this really real?'"
He especially attracted attention by expressing apology and gratitude toward Kim Ye-rim. Do Dae-yoon sincerely said, "I'm still grateful to Ye-rim. While I was in the United States, it must not have been easy to carry on activities alone; you really worked hard. I'm sorry." In response, Kim Ye-rim said, "Two Months' breakup felt too abrupt, so there was always regret," and "I decided to appear because I thought it would be a good opportunity to stand on stage with Dae-yoon again and talk."
Meanwhile, Do Dae-yoon previously mentioned his difficult times when he appeared on ENA's survival program Undercover. On a YouTube channel, he said, "In March 2012 I lived like a person gone mad, not answering my mother's calls. Someone who really cared about me, an older sister and brother, contacted me and met me at a place; they forced me into a taxi. My mother was in that taxi," and added, "I was forcibly hospitalized (in a psychiatric hospital) that day. As soon as I arrived I caused a ruckus. I raged and said I wouldn't be hospitalized, but I was ultimately admitted forcibly."
After a long hiatus, Do Dae-yoon challenged himself again in music activities and, standing on stage with Kim Ye-rim for the first time in 13 years, announced Two Months' new beginning.
