Actress Oh Yoon-a expressed pride as she cheered on her son Song Min, who has a developmental disability, for completing his first 5km marathon.
On the 17th, a video titled "Challenge is truly beautiful! Our Min is great | Oh! Yoon-a Min's marathon challenge" was posted on Oh Yoon-a's YouTube channel.
That day, looking at Song Min before the marathon, Oh Yoon-a said, "He has perseverance, so I don't think he'll give up, but how quickly he adapts to this environment seems important."
She continued, "My biggest worry is his feet. His feet are quite misaligned, so running is hard for him. The teacher also told him not to run too hard, but he's still young, so he's trying the challenge. He wore corrective insoles, but it might be a bit difficult," she said, voicing her concern.
Contrary to concerns, Song Min faithfully followed the coach's instructions, kept his own pace, and ultimately succeeded in completing the 5km in 42 minutes and 21 seconds. After finishing, he enjoyed the joy of achievement, posing with a bright smile for a commemorative photo in front of the photo wall displaying his record.
Watching this, Oh Yoon-a said, "I smiled without realizing it because the time was faster than expected," and encouraged her son, "I hope the memory of having finished it stays with Min for a long time. He was truly the best today."
She added, "Seeing Min take on and accomplish things he hadn't tried before made me want to take on new challenges myself," she said, sharing her impression.
Oh Yoon-a also offered a message of support to families in similar situations. She said, "Through various activities in the future, I want to show that friends like Min can definitely do it," and sincerely encouraged, "Starting is the hardest part of a challenge, but starting is half the battle. I hope children feel a sense of accomplishment and parents gain courage as well. You can definitely do it."
