Season 16 contestant Yeong-suk appeared on the 2023 ENA, SBS Plus dating reality show "I'm SOLO" divorced special, forming a love line with Sang-cheol. but the two failed to become a final couple, and afterward Yeong-suk revealed private conversations with Sang-cheol and other personal matters on social media, leading to disputes.
Ultimately, season 16 contestant Yeong-suk was indicted on charges of exaggerating and distorting private conversations with Sang-cheol and distributing them through social media and live broadcasts. the first trial court said, "None of the content qualifies as a matter of public interest that the public needs to know, and it is difficult to view it as such. it does not pertain to the public interest," and sentenced season 16 contestant Yeong-suk to a fine of 2 million won.
Thereafter season 16 contestant Yeong-suk appealed, arguing that "there was no intent to defame or slander and that it was in the interest of public good and a matter of self-defense and explanation," asserting it was "self-defense or a lawful act," citing factual error and unfair sentencing as reasons for the appeal.
However, the appeals court in April said, "Even if the other party was at fault in a public space, it is difficult to view such conduct as a lawful act," and "the defendant's claims cannot all be accepted, and overall the first trial's judgment is appropriate," and dismissed the appeal. furthermore, the Supreme Court dismissed the appeal, finalizing the fine of 2 million won imposed in the first trial.
In response, season 16 contestant Sang-cheol posted a long message on his social media, saying, "It seems the long bad relationship with Yeong-suk has finally ended. an ordinary office worker somehow appeared on a show, went through this experience, and received excessive attention and support from many people. I am truly grateful to everyone and wish you continued success and only happiness in life," expressing his feelings.
