Former civil servant and 'Chungju man' turned YouTuber Kim Seon-tae warned against political misunderstandings while candidly sharing the difficulties he faced when he was in charge of election duties.
On the 17th, a video titled "dishwashing promotion" was posted on the YouTube channel 'Kim Seon-tae'.
That day, while introducing a food waste disposer and doing the dishes, Kim Seon-tae took out a cup he received from the Blue House and said, "I should tell you so you won't misunderstand: this cup was received from every administration."
He said, "I received one during the Moon Jae-in administration and I received one during the Yoon Suk-yeol administration. I also have all the presidential watches," and explained, "I received them regardless of the administration because I performed certain duties as a civil servant." He went on to reiterate, "I say this so you won't misunderstand but I am neutral. I don't know much about politics."
Turning the topic to election duties, Kim Seon-tae spoke about the difficulties he experienced while a civil servant. He said, "Because I was a civil servant, I have a lot to say about elections," and added, "We suffered a lot because of the National Election Commission. I can't say everything, but there were many things that really made me angry."
He continued, "A significant portion of the National Election Commission's work is delegated to local governments," and explained, "From posting election posters to preparing for early voting and the main vote, and installing voting booths and ballot boxes, most of those tasks were handled by local government officials." Kim Seon-tae said, "I think there are really unfair aspects," and expressed his view, "The right to vote must be guaranteed. Aside from political issues, I believe this kind of system fundamentally needs to change."
Still, he laughed and said, "If I say this, will people call me a 'pro-Blue'?" then drew a line again, saying, "I am not on any political side; I am neutral."
