TwoMonths, appearing together on a broadcast for the first time in 13 years, candidly revealed the circumstances behind their hiatus.
On the 17th, KBS2's Happy Together featured Kim Ye-rim and Do Dae-yoon of the coed duo TwoMonths, who had received great love through an audition program.
That day the two recalled when the team was formed through a New York audition and said "actually we weren't close originally. We awkwardly became a team," adding "I think many people found that fresh and slightly awkward atmosphere exciting."
They also revealed behind-the-scenes from their Mystic Entertainment days. The two said "all our practice songs were senior Yoon Jongshin's songs," and upon hearing this, Yu Jae-seok joked "that's the worst," drawing laughter. Yoon Jongshin also expressed surprise, saying "that's the first time I'm hearing that story."
TwoMonths went on to recall when they won first place on a music show with a title track produced by Yoon Jongshin, explaining "but the period we were at Mystic was less than a year." Afterwards, Do Dae-yoon returned to the United States and naturally stopped activities.
They also explained the long hiatus. Do Dae-yoon confessed, "I developed severe bipolar disorder and had to rest for a long time." Kim Ye-rim recalled, "At that time we were so busy that events and concert schedules continued back-to-back," adding "we were still high school students, and it was hard to handle the sudden attention. At some point I felt Dae-yoon gradually changing."
In response, Do Dae-yoon said, "Overall the pressure was too intense. It seems it overlapped with puberty," adding, "I couldn't even honestly tell Ye-rim and kept it inside, which eventually led to bipolar disorder." He went on to say that he took time for treatment and recovery during the long break, and expressed gratitude for reuniting on stage with Kim Ye-rim after a long time.
