"One-shot one-kill" killer Kong Hyojin and righteous reporter Jung Jun-won begin the most dangerously thrilling and sweet double life of a married couple in the world.
The MBC new Friday-Saturday drama A Bona fide Killer, scheduled to premiere at 9:50 p.m. on the 31st (planning: Kwon Seong-chang / screenplay: Kim Eun-hee / directors: Yoon Jong-ho, Kim Ji-hun), released today (17th) a couple poster featuring actors Kong Hyojin and Jung Jun-won sharing a tender gaze on the same bed.
A Bona fide Killer is based on the popular Kakao webtoon of the same name and portrays the struggle of a working mom with the deadliest job in the world as she fights to maintain work-life balance.
In the drama, Kong Hyojin plays Yubona, an ordinary married woman devoted to housekeeping and childcare who is secretly a killer who punishes ruthless criminals the law has missed, and Jung Jun-won plays Kwon Tae-seong, a passionate social affairs reporter who is his wife's staunch supporter and has a relentless sense of duty, promising dazzling marital chemistry.
The released couple poster catches the eye with Yubona and Kwon Tae-seong lying facing each other on the same bed, looking at each other affectionately. Their tightly clasped hands and the soft smiles on their faces suggest a peaceful and warm everyday life indistinguishable from that of any ordinary married couple.
But the twist hidden behind their sweet married life takes one's breath away. The mysterious killer "Kingfisher," whom Kwon Tae-seong relentlessly pursued in the past, turns out to be his own wife, Yubona. The precarious relationship between the two, who occupy polar opposite worlds at work as a killer and a reporter, will deliver both the excitement of a sweet domestic romance and the tension of a pulse-pounding pursuit thriller.
In particular, the copy on one side of the poster, "Don't worry. I won't get caught," leaves a powerful lingering impression. It contains Yubona's firm determination to completely hide her identity and her deep love for her husband. Yubona's struggle, who paradoxically picks up a gun again to protect her precious family, arouses curiosity about what shockwaves it will send through the couple's relationship.
On set, Kong Hyojin and Jung Jun-won reportedly showed natural yet profound acting chemistry throughout the shoot. The production team asked to "pay attention to the couple's unique narrative that has no choice but to hide secrets to protect the family they love" and added, "Please show great interest in the unpredictable developments that will unfold each episode, including what kind of crisis Yubona, who has the job of a killer that must never be discovered by her husband, will face."
