Nick Liner, who killed his parents, has rapidly deteriorated in seven months.
On the 15th (local time), foreign outlets including the Daily Mail reported, "Seven months after being arrested on charges of killing his parents, Rob Liner and Michelle Liner, Nick Liner's appearance has changed to the point of being unrecognizable."
A source close to the family told the Daily Mail, "Nick no longer looks like the Nick he used to be. He is rapidly deteriorating. Now no one will recognize him."
They added, "To prevent this, his hair had to be cut very short so he looks almost bald, and he has become extremely thin because of the strong medication he is taking. His eyes are deeply sunken," and said that according to the source, Nick's mental state has rapidly worsened as solitary confinement has continued.
The source said, "Nick had been in poor health for many years. But before entering prison some aspects of his personality still remained. That is not the case now," and added, "He is like a babbling child. He is completely not himself. His condition is so severe that even lawyers find it difficult to continue conversations with him."
Nick's brother Jake Liner and sister Romi Liner are also reported to be greatly concerned about his current condition.
Sources said, "They fear that Nick may never regain his sanity and worry that continued physical and mental strain could weaken his heart and ultimately cost him his life."
Nick Liner was arrested on Dec. 14 last year at the family home in Brentwood, Los Angeles, on suspicion of killing his parents, Rob Liner and Michelle Liner, and was charged with two counts of first-degree murder. At the time of the incident, Nick had been diagnosed with schizophrenia and also had a history of drug addiction.
Since the incident, Nick has been held at Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles. If convicted, he is reportedly facing the possibility of life without parole or the death penalty.
