Comedian Kim Sinyoung will take the stage in "Jeon Yuseong show without Jeon Yuseong" to honor the late Jeon Yuseong.
The Busan International Comedy Festival (BICF), now in its 14th year, will be held across Busan for 10 days from Aug. 21 to 30, and a domestic and international performance lineup was revealed one day before ticket sales.
As the first and largest international comedy festival in Asia, "Bukope" will once again bring together leading and younger Korean comedians and domestic and international artists to meet audiences with a variety of performances.
The opening performance will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 21 at Busan Exhibition & Convention Center (BEXCO) Auditorium. The long-running comedy program Malja Show & Gag Concert gala show will open the festival, and domestic drawing performance team Croquikey Brothers and world-renowned French mime artist Patrick Cotet Moine will take the stage to bring laughs. The main MC will be Jee Seokjin, and the band QWER will heat up the atmosphere with a celebratory performance.
A particularly notable stage is "Jeon Yuseong show without Jeon Yuseong." Lee Hongryeol, Shin Bong-Sun, Kim Sinyoung and Zoltan will perform, carrying on the spirit and philosophy of the late Jeon Yuseong, who was a major figure in Korean comedy, through laughter. It is expected to be a meaningful performance honoring Jeon Yuseong, who instilled a creative comedy sense in countless juniors.
A performance where popular segments from Gag Concert can be seen in one place, and "Galgali Gag Concert: return of the legends," featuring Park Joonhyung, Shim Hyunseop, Park Seongho, Im Hyukpil, Park Youngjin, Kim Ji-hye, Oh Jiheon, Oh Jeong Tae and Park Hwisuun, will also meet audiences.
The stand-up comedy lineup is also rich. In addition to "Seoul Comedy All-Stars," featuring Song Habin, Kim Dong-ha, Komikko, Danny Cho, Won Soyoon, Park Jinju, Kim Jongchan and Shin Seungsoo, "B-level hearing," by Choi Seongmin, Nam Hoyun and Kim Seungjin, who have 500,000 YouTube subscribers, will also fill summer nights with laughter.
"Conte Assemble," featuring Snack Town, Youth Desk, TtukSaeDae W, Bbangwon and Kkirikkiri, and "Mandam Assemble," staged by Gwakbeom, Botta, Youth Desk, Heegeukin's and TtukSaeDae W, will each showcase the charms of skits and comic dialogue. In addition, "Woo Seokhoon comedy short selection" and a performance by nonverbal performance team Ongals will add cross-genre laughter.
Japan Nonverbal Live G Team, Patrick Cotet Moine's MIME DE RIEN, and comedy magic show Double are drawing anticipation from both overseas and domestic audiences.
The festival will conclude with the closing performance "I am a dog singer" on Aug. 30. Kim Dae-hee, Cho Hye-lyeon, Lee Seyoung, Young-gi, Lee Ji-yo and Lee Bongwon will take the stage to wrap up Bukope with cheerful energy.
