'Baseless rumors of actor Song Joong-ki and his wife KT Louise Saunders remarrying have spread online, drawing fans' outrage. Even though the two recently appeared together at an official event as a married couple, fake news with sensational headlines has been repeatedly reproduced.
Recently, posts and videos dealing with Song Joong-ki's alleged remarriage have appeared one after another on online communities and YouTube. Some content promoted phrases such as "exclusive report," "second divorce at 40," and "finally a full stop" in their headlines and thumbnails, making it seem as if the couple's breakup had been confirmed as fact.
However, neither Song Joong-ki nor his agency has released an official statement regarding a divorce, and the matter has not been confirmed by reliable media. The claims in the videos are also reported to be at the level of listing speculation without concrete evidence or factual verification.
Internet users who saw this expressed displeasure, saying, "Why are you posting fake news so brazenly?", "Why are you divorcing people who are doing well?", "At this point they should be legally sanctioned", and "Don't believe based on the video title alone."
Above all, Song Joong-ki and KT recently drew attention by attending an official event together as a married couple for the first time.
The two attended the Gaon Soloists' 7th regular concert "Children's scene" held at IBK Chamber Hall, Seoul Arts Center in Seocho District, Seoul, in April. That day, Song Joong-ki and KT made a special appearance as narrators on the same stage, and after the performance they kindly responded to photo requests.
Musical actress Kim So Hyun, who was on site with them, also shared a photo taken with the Song Joong-ki couple and said, "Song Joong-ki, whom I met after a long time, is kind, and KT is beautiful."
Since Song Joong-ki and KT married in 2023, this was the first time they appeared together on the stage of an official event as a married couple. Over time the two have been photographed together at airports and baseball stadiums, and Song Joong-ki has shown affection for his family, for example by showing reporters photos of his children during a project interview.
The two met through an introduction by an acquaintance, developed into lovers, and then registered their marriage and announced their wedding in 2023. They currently have one son and one daughter.
Although the couple has shown up together at official events and continues a peaceful daily life, unverified divorce rumors are repeatedly spreading. Voices are growing that, beyond interest in a celebrity's private life, there needs to be vigilance and sanctions against content that packages false information as fact to chase sensational view counts.
Simply adding "exclusive" to a headline does not make it true. Sharing and amplifying fake news without confirming whether the parties or their agencies have issued an official announcement or whether multiple reliable reports exist can also cause further harm. More concrete sanctions seem necessary to uproot this malicious problem that persists.
