"Dream To You" stars Hwang Inyoup and Lee Hye-ri faced the truth of their breakup 15 years ago, evoking sadness.
On the 14th, episode 2 of ENA's Monday-Tuesday drama Dream To You (directed by Yoo Seon-dong, written by Jung Eun-bi) depicted the story of why Woo Soo-bin (played by Hwang Inyoup) and Joo I-jae (played by Lee Hye-ri) had no choice but to end their first love.
In the past, Joo I-jae, who dreamed of becoming a film director, gave wandering Woo Soo-bin a new goal, and Woo Soo-bin was the first to give Joo I-jae a bouquet when she won the grand prize at a youth film festival, cheering on her dream.
In particular, the story of "The fox and the sour grapes" that Joo I-jae told symbolically showed the relationship between the two. Joo I-jae's conviction that she wanted to be the kind of person who faces obstacles to the end, not a fox that gives up easily, gave Woo Soo-bin great courage, and he quietly supported her and became a reliable pillar.
But 15 years later, unlike Woo Soo-bin, who achieved his dream and became a film director, Joo I-jae had set aside her dream to make a living. Woo Soo-bin reached out again to finish the unfinished film "Gyeongseong love song" together and even gave her a bouquet as before, but Joo I-jae's heart did not open easily.
Joo I-jae confessed that she had tried climbing trees, running and even climbing ladders but it didn't work, saying, "I climbed trees and hurt my hand, I ran and hurt my leg, and someone kicked the ladder away," revealing a life that had no choice but to collapse in the face of reality. In response, Woo Soo-bin sincerely said he would not give up, telling her, "If a friend offers you a back, you can step on that friend and climb up."
Woo Soo-bin boldly said, "I will return the dream I stole from you. If you want, even your first love," but as he leaned in as if to kiss her, Joo I-jae pushed his face away with the bouquet, revealing mixed emotions.
At the end of the broadcast, the truth behind why the two had to part was revealed. To stop Woo Soo-bin from leaving for the United States at his father's wish, Joo I-jae went to find him with the unfinished script, but after waiting for him, who never appeared, she was involved in a traffic accident. While she was in a coma, her father also passed away, and even after she barely woke up, she had to endure a long time to rebuild her shattered daily life. The story of Joo I-jae, who ultimately had to give up her dream, added to the sadness.
Joo I-jae's words, "Woo Soo-bin, you are my regret," revealed that her regret was not about Woo Soo-bin but about the life she had lost along with her dream, leaving viewers heavy-hearted.
Meanwhile, Woo Soo-bin still did not know that Joo I-jae had been in an accident. Amid that, Joo I-jae urgently needed Woo Soo-bin's appearance for the sole scheduling of a program, and she visited his house, foreshadowing a new change in their relationship.
