Ashley Johnson, an American actor and voice actress who was a child star in the 1990s, recalled a shocking incident in which she was nearly kidnapped on a set.
Ashley Johnson of the drama "Growing Pains" recently appeared on the podcast "Weird Kids" and mentioned that during a 1990s sitcom shoot a man with a gun nearly kidnapped her.
Johnson recalled that while she was walking with her mother a man grabbed her and began to run off with her. At the time, audience members could see actors coming out of their trailers from only about 1.5 meters away.
More shocking was that before the kidnapping attempt a fan had sent a letter to production saying, "I will bring a gun to the set and kill several cast members."
Johnson recalled the situation: "I was walking with my mom. Then suddenly a man jumped out of the line, grabbed me, held me and started running at full speed. What I remember is that after a little while the security guards caught that man."
She added, "The security guards ran over and subdued the man, and I remember being swung around in the air," saying that at the time she did not fully understand what was happening.
She said, "That man obviously went to jail in the end. He had a gun. In any case they caught him and saved me."
Ashley Johnson played the role of Chrissy Seaver on "Growing Pains" from 1990 to 1992. She was 6 to 7 years old at the time.
