KOYOTE member Shinji became a hot potato among baseball fans after confessing her genuine fandom at another team's home event.
Shinji recently uploaded a daily life video with her husband MoonOne and the YouTube channel staff on her personal YouTube channel "How are you?!?". Among this, debate erupted among baseball fans over Shinji's words and actions.
The controversy was triggered in a scene where Shinji was talking with MoonOne and staff about the schedule for the baseball stadium event while having a meal. Shinji said through her agency's representative that KOYOTE was offered a performance event after the game at KT's home stadium. Since it was a performance they had done before, Shinji had readily accepted the schedule.
But Shinji added, "The representative contacted me and said they also asked me to throw the ceremonial first pitch. I'm a Hanwha fan, so I refused because throwing the first pitch felt a bit much." A staff member cautiously informed her, "That day the game is KT and Hanwha." Shinji, taken aback, said, "I didn't know it was a game with Hanwha. Then can I at least watch the game there (as a Hanwha fan)? I guess I can't wear a Hanwha uniform."
As a fan of Hanwha, she faced the situation of having to perform at the baseball stadium on behalf of the opposing team KT. With a somewhat troubled expression, Shinji expressed regret but proceeded to fulfill the given schedule. The YouTube production team comforted that regret with a caption reflecting Shinji's feelings as a Hanwha fan: "We'll wait for your Hanwha first pitch."
However, debate erupted among baseball fans who watched the video. Some baseball fans criticized Shinji, saying, "It's rude to publicly say you're a fan of the opposing team rather than the invited team," "If you don't want to come, don't come," and "Isn't this an event done for money?".
On the other hand, there were fans who defended Shinji. They said, "It's not rude at all," "Rather, saying she isn't a home-team fan was considerate," and "It's rude to invite someone known as a Hanwha fan as the ceremonial first-pitch thrower," defending Shinji.
In the meantime, Shinji's side ultimately deleted the video from the YouTube channel. It appears to be a measure taken to prevent further unnecessary controversy from spreading. This situation made it regrettable that even baseball fandom could not be openly expressed. <
