Bae Ki-sung expressed fear about his ongoing hearing loss.
On the 13th broadcast of TV CHOSUN 'The Lovers of Joseon', a 5th anniversary special singing contest took place.
Kang Susie asked Bae Ki-sung, who took the stage, "You are going through a difficult time in many ways. How serious is the hearing loss in your ear?" Bae Ki-sung calmly explained, "My right ear has not been hearing for five months. I am singing with only one ear."
Bae Ki-sung added, "For five months, tinnitus continues in my right ear 24 hours a day. I cannot hear speech from the right. They say that after about six months I could be judged as having a disability. I cannot hear the sounds people make in the waiting room at all, so I am alone wearing earphones."
In fact, Bae Ki-sung received equipment assistance because he could not hear the stage from the waiting room. Bae Ki-sung said, "I feel heavy that I could not show my best vocal power and condition. This stage has special meaning. It might be the last stage, though I hope that does not happen. As time goes by, I become somewhat withdrawn," and Kim Tae-won comforted him, "You are becoming Beethoven. My left ear has not heard for seven years. People with disabilities become a great support when they work hard."
Bae Ki-sung delivered a performance that poured everything out as if it were the last. Even so, he could not hide a bitter expression after finishing the stage. Kim Tae-won described it as "beautiful."
Yang Soo-kyung comforted him, "Don't say things like you will have to stop singing. You can do better going forward," and in the end Bae Ki-sung bowed his head and shed tears.<
