Broadcaster Park Na-rae was referred to the prosecution on charges of running an unregistered agency, and Park Na-rae's side explained the reason for the lack of registration.
On the 14th, a representative for Park Na-rae told OSEN, "It is correct that Park Na-rae's one-person agency is currently unregistered. We are currently undergoing the registration process," giving an official statement.
However, Park Na-rae's side provided further explanation for why it remained unregistered until now. Park Na-rae's side said, "Two former managers were registered as directors of the one-person agency. For registration as a popular culture and arts planning business, the consent of the directors and preparation of documents are required, but that was not possible," they said.
They added, "Lawsuits to cancel the director registrations for the former managers have been concluded, and a new director has been registered and is receiving related training, so the registration is now in the final stages."
Meanwhile, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station said it referred Park Na-rae to the prosecution on the 9th on charges of violating the Popular Culture and Arts Industry Development Act.
Under current law, a person intending to run a popular culture and arts planning business such as an agency must register with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and if unregistered may face up to two years in prison or a fine of up to 20 million won.
