DJ DOC Lee Ha-neul mentioned cutting ties with Kim Chang Youl, but it has been confirmed that they are currently maintaining an amicable relationship.
On the 14th, a close aide to Lee Ha-neul told OSEN that the DJ DOC members are not in that kind of situation and that they are communicating with each other.
The day before, Lee Ha-neul uploaded a video titled "the difficult period during my entertainment activities (after the divorce and even during COVID)" on his YouTube channel "Lee Ha-neul's all sorts of words." In the video, Lee Ha-neul candidly confessed about the difficult times in the past, and in that process he brought up discord with Kim Chang Youl, drawing attention.
He said that after his younger brother (Lee Hyun-bae) passed away, he fell out with Chang Youl and DJ DOC events stopped. Primary income disappeared, and he thought it was hard, but then COVID-19 followed and even the occasional events were all shut down. He said that the reason he started internet broadcasting was that when DOC was active together they had pre-signed contracts to do a few concerts and had received a few hundred million won as advance payments. Those were advance payments, but because DOC was not active the company demanded the contracted money back. Suddenly they were faced with having to pay several hundred million won at once. It was about 200 million won, and they said they would even publicize it by claiming the money if things went wrong. They said they would sue to pressure the media. If it went that far, DOC would have no more opportunities, so he settled it with money he received from internet broadcasting.
Earlier, Lee Ha-neul sparked controversy by accusing Kim Chang Youl of causing his younger brother Lee Hyun-bae, who died in April 2021, to suffer financial distress because Kim Chang Youl did not pay construction costs while running a guest house business. He said his brother, who was working part-time as a delivery worker, was involved in an accident and could not even get an MRI, leading to death from sequelae. Later, in 2024, he confirmed reconciliation by posting a photo of a hug with Kim Chang Youl along with a photo of the full DJ DOC reunion. However, at the end of last year they performed with Kim Chang Youl excluded and once again mentioned "cutting ties," reigniting discord rumors.
However, a close aide to Lee Ha-neul dismissed the discord rumors with Kim Chang Youl, saying that while the members do not interact much (with each other), there is no reason to cut ties now even if that might have been the case around the time they were active, and that they are simply supporting each other in their respective circumstances.
