Broadcaster Ji Yeonsoo, who traveled to and from work to make a living, opened up about her guilt toward her son, moving listeners.
On the 13th, a video titled "Ji Yeonsoo cannot hug her son Minsu because of Iyoo" was posted on the YouTube channel Ji Yeonsoo's Yeonsoo-ropda.
Earlier, Ji Yeonsoo said that while raising her son Minsu alone she worked various part-time jobs such as dishwashing and cleaning at restaurants, a side-dish shop, a wedding shop, and a rice cake factory, and that she now works at a beef soup restaurant. The most difficult moment was the time she met her son after getting off work.
Ji Yeonsoo said, "When I come home from working at a restaurant, the smell clings to my body badly," and "Minsu calls 'mom' and immediately hugs me, but my heart hurt so much thinking that the smell might reach him." She added, "When I was young, my mother always smelled nice," and said, "I was so sad thinking Minsu might remember me by that smell," before finally showing tears.
She said she even deliberately avoided hugging her son at times. Recently, mustering up the courage, she asked her son directly, Ji Yeonsoo said, "I asked, 'Do I smell a lot to you, mom?' and Minsu said, 'No. It's okay,'" adding, "Still, the child could dislike it. Sometimes I myself feel that smell is unpleasant," she said, expressing her distress. She tried spraying perfume but it was even more awkward, saying bitterly, "The perfume smell mixed with the kimchi pickle smell and became weirder."
She also offered words of encouragement to fellow single mothers. Ji Yeonsoo said, "Mothers don't have time to be pretty. From morning they take care of the child, work and do housework, and the day is over," while adding, "Still, when going to school events or parent meetings, I hope they dress up nicely for their confidence."
Meanwhile, Ji Yeonsoo married former U-KISS member Elly in 2014 and had a son, Minsu, but they divorced in 2020. She is currently raising her son alone while continuing broadcasting and YouTube activities.
