Broadcaster Ji Yeonsoo moved readers with her story of having worked multiple part-time jobs to make a living and her remorse toward her son.
On the 13th, a video titled "Why Ji Yeonsoo can't hug her son Minsu" was released on the YouTube channel 'Ji Yeonsoo's Yeonsoo-ful.'
That day Ji Yeonsoo said she had worked various part-time jobs starting with washing dishes at a restaurant, then cleaning, working at a side-dish shop, a wedding shop, and a rice cake factory, and that she is currently working at a beef soup restaurant. She recalled, "When COVID-19 got worse, I did cleaning work, and I also worked at a side-dish shop and a wedding shop," and "When I did night shifts at the rice cake factory, I sometimes brought Minsu to work with me."
Also, the former racing model confessed the worries she experienced as she plunged into ordinary daily work to make a living.
Ji Yeonsoo confessed, "Because I had done modeling for a long time, I didn't realize I was someone who stood out in real life," and "To survive, I thought I had no choice but to kill myself. So I deliberately acted really shabby," evoking sympathy.
Above all, the hardest moment was the time she met her son after finishing work. Ji Yeonsoo said, "When I finish work at the beef soup restaurant, the smell of pickled radish, kkakdugi and boiled meat clings strongly to my body," and "When I go home, Minsu comes up to me calling 'mom,' and it hurt my heart to think he might smell that on me." She added, "When I was young, my mother was always someone who smelled good," and said she was very sad thinking Minsu might remember her by that smell, showing tears.
She even used a method to avoid her son's embrace. She confessed, "Before I get off the elevator, I deliberately make a phone call and pretend to be talking," and "I say 'mom is on a call' so that Minsu won't come close. I did it because I was afraid he would smell me."
In particular, Ji Yeonsoo recently moved to be by her mother's side during her cancer treatment and left her life in Jeju. She currently lives with her son Minsu in a roughly 15-pyeong duplex house while juggling her part-time job at the beef soup restaurant, broadcasting and YouTube activities. After all, child support alone is not enough to live on. Through her YouTube, she said, "I receive 850,000 won from my ex-husband Ilai. But the minimum child support is 640,000 won. That's the standard for the youngest child," noting that the child support calculation standard does not sufficiently reflect current prices.
Netizens continue to express support for Ji Yeonsoo, who took on part-time jobs to make a living.
Meanwhile, Ji Yeonsoo married Ilai, formerly of U-KISS, in 2014 and held her son Minsu in her arms, but they divorced in 2020. She has since been sharing updates about living on Jeju Island with her son.
