Actor Yoo Ah-in was spotted at the VIP premiere of Hope, and director Jang Jae-hyun of "Exhuma" accompanied him, drawing attention.
On the 13th, at the VIP premiere of the film Hope held at Megabox COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, actor Yoo Ah-in and director Jang Jae-hyun attended together.
That day, Yoo Ah-in and director Jang Jae-hyun quietly entered the screening room, greeting acquaintances and associates without standing on a separate photowall. However, as many fans were present at the event, witness videos capturing Yoo Ah-in and director Jang Jae-hyun quickly spread. In the video, Yoo Ah-in, wearing all-black clothing and a blue cap, shook hands with acquaintances, exchanged greetings and smiled brightly.
It was not known whether Yoo Ah-in had received a formal invitation from the Hope side to attend the premiere or whether he attended as director Jang Jae-hyun's companion. In this regard, a representative of Hope told OSEN, We also cannot know the full guest list of invited actors and production companies. (As for the reason for attending) I don't know.
Their sighting especially fueled speculation about Yoo Ah-in's appearance in the film Vampir. Vampir is director Jang Jae-hyun's next work to be released after "Exhuma," and is a vampire story about a hunter who hunts vampires and a bride.
Vampir is currently in planning and pre-production, and after finalizing casting and completing investment and distribution procedures, it is aiming to begin filming as early as Oct. The rumor that this work would be Yoo Ah-in's comeback began circulating in Dec. last year, but at the time Yoo Ah-in's agency said, We have not decided anything yet.
Director Jang Jae-hyun also drew a line in a phone call with OSEN, saying that the rumor of Yoo Ah-in's casting is not true and that he has never formally asked the actor to be cast.
Director Jang Jae-hyun added, It is true that I asked how he has been doing. We shared some future schedules, but a completely different story seems to have spread. He said he wanted to stay quietly without a schedule for about a year.
Until recently, a representative of NEW, the investor and distributor of Vampir, told OSEN, We are coordinating various actors including the actors mentioned and will let you know once it is confirmed, taking a cautious stance. However, after Yoo Ah-in and director Jang Jae-hyun were spotted at the Hope premiere, the mood is that Yoo Ah-in's appearance in Vampir is practically confirmed.
Meanwhile, Yoo Ah-in was embroiled in controversy after it became known that from Sept. 2020 to Mar. 2022 he habitually used propofol and illegally received prescriptions for sleeping pills, and in Jan. 2022 he smoked marijuana in the United States.
Yoo Ah-in, who was tried in 2023 on charges of violating the Act on the Control of Narcotics, was sentenced in the first trial the following Sept. to one year in prison and a fine of 2 million won. The prosecution appealed as the sentence was light, but the sentence was reduced in the second trial to one year in prison with a two-year suspended sentence and a fine of 2 million won, and the sentence was finalized by the Supreme Court in the third trial on July of last year.
