Comedian Park Seong-gwang's wife, Lee Sol, shared how her mindset changed after battling cancer.
On the 14th, Lee Sol uploaded a vlog video to her social account with the caption "cultivating the ability to find happiness in everyday life."
Earlier, she said, "Everyone..! I recently went for a follow-up checkup..!! Among us, it's an extremely important checkup we describe as extending life by six months.. This time they drew blood and did a headache test, bone scan, and chest and abdominal CT — I underwent long exams all day..!" she said, updating fans on her condition.
In this context, Lee Sol said, "The results come out two days later. The idea that once treatment is finished the world will instantly look beautiful and I'll automatically become a positive person may have been a deeply romantic misunderstanding. Even after long treatment ended, life did not immediately become beautiful. Everyday life remained difficult, at times I felt listless, and inexplicable bouts of depression would suddenly brush past my mind," she confessed about her feelings after chemotherapy.
She said, "If anything changed after finishing treatment, it was not the daily life I had so hoped for but rather my perspective on this life. Fear did not disappear. Gratitude and positivity did not come automatically either. I'm still playing the odds of living an uncertain future. But I'm slowly learning how to live today while holding fear."
She continued, "Going through ordinary days, doing what I can, finding a reason for my existence, and spending time with loved ones while living a day no different from usual. Living well doesn't mean having no fear; it's the courage to continue loving my life while standing with fear. Becoming flexible about everything yet ultimately pulling up happiness — isn't that solid attitude the most precious legacy the past pains left me?" she said, revealing what she learned from fighting the disease.
Netizens who read this expressed much empathy and support, and in response to another cancer patient's message "I relate so much and my heart aches," Lee Sol replied, "I think I live with a lower threshold for happiness than others. Please stay healthy for a long, long time," and "I want to deliver lots of good vibes by getting good results!! Go go!" showing her determination.
Meanwhile, Lee Sol married comedian Park Seong-gwang in 2020. She later revealed last April that she had been battling a female cancer, and after surgery and chemotherapy she is known to be continuing regular checkups and medication.
