Actor Cha Jeong-won revealed an anecdote about singer Jung Yong-hwa.
On the 13th, SBS variety show Uh, but like, seriously! (hereinafter "Ah-geun-jin") featured IVY, Cha Jeong-won and Joo Hyun-young, who each brought laughter to viewers with their different charms and unexpected variety show sensibilities.
That day Cha Jeong-won recalled, "I have been friends with Jung Yong-hwa since the first year of high school," and "As far as I know, Yong-hwa had no interest in this field at all and I really wanted to do this work," she said.
Cha Jeong-won went on to say, "I suggested, 'Would you like to try an acting academy in our neighborhood?' and he replied, 'What kind of entertainer? Study hard and become an English teacher,'" which surprised everyone.
She continued, "At that time, large agencies often came down to Busan for street casting. Whenever I heard someone was coming from Seoul I would wait outside every day, but at some point I stopped hearing from Yong-hwa," she explained.
Cha Jeong-won, who was at a different school than Jung Yong-hwa, later learned the news that he had been cast by agency staff who came from Seoul.
"When I called Yong-hwa later he said, 'I'm sorry,'" she recalled, "After receiving the casting offer and hearing the details, he said he really wanted to do it."
Cha Jeong-won said, "Later when I saw TV, Yong-hwa was wearing a tie and singing. I felt glad and he looked so cool that my heart felt warm," she said. Meanwhile, Cha Jeong-won surprised everyone by confessing that she applied to the theater department without her father's knowledge and had her hair cut as a result.
