Director Jang Hang-jun cheerfully expressed the pressure from the phenomenon-level success of the film The King's Warden.
On the morning of the 14th, the production press conference for the new variety show Time Tracker Sherlock (abbreviated Sherlock) on K-STAR, SBS Plus, Comedy TV, The Life and GTV was broadcast online. In attendance were the three MCs — director Jang Hang-jun, actor Bong Tae Gyu and broadcaster Shin Ah-young — along with panelist Sun Kim, who talked about Sherlock.
The event drew attention in particular because it was the production press conference for the new variety show with director Jang Hang-jun serving as the main MC. Earlier this year, director Jang Hang-jun's new film The King's Warden drew about 16.91 million viewers, setting a box office record that was approaching a cumulative audience of 17 million.
When the host stammered, calling him the "1.7 million director," director Jang Hang-jun laughed and replied, "1.7 million is also impressive," adding jokingly that he felt "very offended."
The Sherlock panel members praised director Jang Hang-jun even more. Bong Tae Gyu said, "The biggest difference between seasons 1 and 2 is what came before and after The King's Warden," and Shin Ah-young added, "The fact that there could be a season 2 is thanks to director Jang Hang-jun."
Director Jang Hang-jun retorted, "When will this giant roast party end?" drawing laughter.
Sherlock is the same event, a completely different interpretation. It reexamines the hidden fissures in familiar history. From the records of official histories to the viewpoints of unofficial accounts and beyond, this historical variety show traces the gaps in the record, changing perspectives more deeply, more boldly and more strangely to ask whether there ever was a "correct answer" to the history we believe we know. It premieres today (the 14th) at 10:30 p.m.
