A rolling stone perfectly did its part. This is the story of 2 Days & 1 Night's Lee Yongjin and Lee Ki Taek.
With Cho Sae-ho and Yoo Sun-ho leaving, KBS2's 2 Days & 1 Night season 4 (hereinafter 2 Days & 1 Night) reorganized. The new members were comedian Lee Yongjin and actor Lee Ki Taek. They began on the 7th with a "self-sufficient remote-area trip," and through a total of three trips — "deserted island check-in" and "Route 7 healing trip" — they have been meeting viewers.
As a veteran entertainer, Lee Yongjin brings unprecedented tension to the various games on 2 Days & 1 Night. On the Dec. 12 broadcast, after repeated game losses he blamed himself, saying, "My skills were exposed in just three recordings," but he increased engagement by dramatically winning the last indoor sleeping spot. Also, his unresentful teasing and bravado provoked laughter.
Lee Ki Taek is fully playing the role of the new face youngest member. With a warm visual that reserves him a spot as mothers' favorite, and a bright look when answering dad jokes that even made the production crew smile, he revealed a gentle nature. During games, a surprising clumsy moment caught attention. In particular, the growth narrative of the entertainment rookie who even learns to betray others provokes amusement.
Lee Yongjin is already showing his character and nicknames such as "Newtree Yong," while Lee Ki Taek is known as "surprise Taek" and "clumsy Taek." Lee Ki Taek showed affection, saying, "I have no regrets. Once filming ends, I want to go again," even after a grueling 7km night march.
Also, with Lee Yongjin and DinDin facing off as "brain rivals," they quickly stabilized the six-member lineup through natural synergy with existing members. Having proven the success of the revamp in a month, attention is focused on what various plans 2 Days & 1 Night will use to continue its upward momentum.
Meanwhile, thanks to the performances of Lee Yongjin and Lee Ki Taek and their chemistry with Kim Jongmin, Moon Seyoon, Lee Jun and DinDin, 2 Days & 1 Night defended its No. 1 spot in the same time slot and shone as the weekend variety show powerhouse.
