On the 13th episode aired on TV CHOSUN 'The Lovers of Joseon', a 5th anniversary special singing contest took place.
Lee Se-jun said about Bae Ki-sung, who has been experiencing hearing loss for five months, "In this situation, singing along to the accompaniment is difficult. Bae Ki-sung said, "Three weeks ago my father called to ask if my ears were okay. And the next day he collapsed. He is now in the intensive care unit on a ventilator and unconscious. If I had said 'I can hear well' it would have been so good.. I really regret that. Life is cruel. Because I have to prepare to say goodbye to my father, this song came to mind," and performed "Farewell" a cappella.
Bae Ki-sung continued the song in a trembling voice as if his father came to mind. Bae Ki-sung revealed the wish, "Father, you were strong. If you could look at my face one last time, I would be grateful," and once again burst into tears.
However, Bae Ki-sung's father ultimately passed away one week after the recording.
