Veteran actor Shin Goo calmly expressed his unwavering longing for his wife, who passed away last year, leaving viewers feeling heavy-hearted.
On the 13th, the YouTube channel 'Zzanbro Shin Dong-yeob' released an episode featuring actor Shin Goo, Jo Dal-hwan and Lee Sang-yoon, where they shared candid stories.
That day Lee Sang-yoon cautiously began, "After the teacher sent his wife away last year and has been alone, his house looked very lonely." When Shin Dong-yeob asked, "You must have had a hard time after sending away the wife you spent so many years with," Shin Goo calmly revealed his inner feelings.
He said, "I never thought I would be alone. One day it suddenly became like that," adding, "But I couldn't follow her and die, I had to eat and breathe and live, so I endured. As time went by, I was able to endure it." He then recalled acquaintances who had lost their spouses earlier and said, "When I see friends who went through that pain before and lived alone, I wonder 'how did they endure it.'"
Above all, traces of his wife still remained throughout his daily life. Shin Goo confessed, "Even now it doesn't really feel like she has passed away. I just live thinking she might have gone out somewhere," adding, "When I enter the house I still say 'I'm home' as I go in," which left viewers feeling heavy-hearted. Shin Goo offered a bitter smile, saying, "It's just something I always did, so I do it," and closed calmly, "Isn't it something no one can avoid? That's life."
Meanwhile, Shin Goo parted with his wife, the late Ha Jeong-suk, in July last year. He is currently meeting audiences on stage in the play The Merchant of Venice with the warm support of junior actors.
