Bae Ki-sung, a finalist in TV CHOSUN's hyperrealistic documentary-variety show The Lovers of Joseon's 5th anniversary special, The Lovers of Joseon song contest, opens up about his feelings as he faces the brink of hearing loss.
In a preview of part 3 of The Lovers of Joseon song contest, which will air on Monday the 13th at 10 p.m., Bae Ki-sung explained, "For five months my right ear hasn't been hearing," describing his ongoing hearing impairment and the looming threat of hearing loss. He went on to calmly confess, "I've had tinnitus in my ear 24 hours a day for five months. In fact, I can't hear what people on my right are saying at all."
Bae Ki-sung expressed concern, saying, "I keep feeling heavy-hearted that I can't show my best vocal power or condition." At the same time he revealed his feelings, saying, "This stage today is, in a way, maybe... it probably won't happen, but could it be the last stage where I can sing in front of the seniors I really, really loved?" The song that earned Bae Ki-sung a spot in the finals, filled with his earnest feelings, will be revealed in the full broadcast.
Having confessed his hearing loss on a previous broadcast, Bae Ki-sung said, "The doctor said that if it's still not hearing after six months, I could receive a disability diagnosis." Because of this, he became a topic of conversation for appearing to be recovering with his wife, Lee Eun-bi, by consuming various restorative foods such as frogs and centipedes.
Meanwhile, Bae Ki-sung added to the sorrow by losing his father last month. The deceased died at the age of 82, and his son Bae Ki-sung prepared the funeral to receive mourners despite his grief.
