The 14th Busan International Comedy Festival (BICF) boosted the festival atmosphere by gifting students special laughter with the "Comedy School Attack."
The Busan International Comedy Festival Organizing Committee held the visiting comedy performance "Comedy School Attack" on the 10th at Samsung Girls' High School in Saha District, Busan. The comedians who visited the school created a pleasant time interacting with the students and raised expectations for the 14th Busan International Comedy Festival, which opens on Aug. 21.
The "Comedy School Attack" is the Busan International Comedy Festival's signature pre-festival program that presents comedy performances directly to teenagers, providing them with opportunities to enjoy culture. Popular comedians visit schools to laugh and communicate with students, and the event receives a strong response every year.
The performance featured Kim Jun-Ho, Chae Hyo-ryeong, Kang Myung-seon and Seo Seong-gyeong, who are active on KBS 2TV's Gag Concert. They presented popular segments such as the audience participation talk sketch "What should I tell you?", "Simgok Police Station" and "Military," filling the auditorium with laughter. Ad-libs and witty banter exchanged with the students on the spot drew rounds of applause and cheers throughout the performance.
Before the performance, executive committee chairman Kim Jun-Ho and chief of external relations Hong In-kyu greeted the students via video. Kim Jun-Ho said, "I hope you laugh to your heart's content today," and asked, "We ask for your interest and participation in the Busan International Comedy Festival, which will be held from Aug. 21 to 30."
Chief of external relations Hong In-kyu also said, "I hope the students' stress flies away refreshingly with laughter," and asked people to "send a lot of love to the Busan International Comedy Festival held in Busan in August."
Various recreational activities in which students participated directly also received enthusiastic responses. A variety of programs were held, including "Look into my eyes! peripheral vision test," "What's your name?", a song-guessing game with students and teachers, and a short-form challenge relay, and students made special memories by blending with the comedians on stage. Toward the end of the event, "laughter scholarships" were presented to the students who provided the biggest laughs, and a group commemorative photo session concluded the meaningful time.
A representative of the Busan International Comedy Festival Organizing Committee said, "Through seeing students laugh and enjoy themselves to their heart's content, we once again confirmed the positive power of comedy," and added, "We will continue to prepare various programs that can meet citizens even more closely to promote comedy culture and expand opportunities to enjoy culture."
