Comedian Park Na-rae was turned over to prosecutors on allegations of abusing former managers, and news came that one of the former managers has retained a lawyer.
Seoul Gangnam Police Station on the 10th transferred Park Na-rae to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office with a recommendation for indictment on charges of special assault and violations of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection.
Earlier, two of Park Na-rae's former managers filed a complaint last December claiming they were subjected to abuse such as being verbally abused for the reason of "not drinking alcohol," being hit by a drinking glass and injured, and other mistreatment.
Park Na-rae filed a counterclaim against the former managers for attempted extortion and denied the allegations during three police investigations, but the police judged that the abusive behavior was established and referred the case to prosecutors.
In this situation, on the 11th a YouTube channel titled "Jang Byeonho" uploaded a single video under the title "We were contacted by Mr. Park Na-rae's former manager."
Attorney Jang Hyun-oh explained, "I posted a video dealing with the dispute between Park Na-rae and the manager, and one of the managers who saw that video recently contacted us saying they wanted to appoint our law firm as their representative."
Earlier, in January Attorney Jang Hyun-oh analyzed the various controversies between Park Na-rae and the former managers from a legal perspective and predicted the managers were likely to win. He also advised that they should settle what could be settled with Park Na-rae and consult a lawyer about parts they felt were unjust to avoid the worst outcome.
Accordingly, the law firm to which Attorney Jang Hyun-oh belongs decided to act as the representative for the former manager in the case. Attorney Jang said, "As you know, the two sides' claims are contradictory and some of the evidence is somewhat unclear, so there is a great deal of room for dispute and it is being fiercely contested."
He added, "I will do my best legally for the manager who trusted and entrusted me. Although the results have not come out yet, because we are this person's representative I prepared the video in advance to announce that it was not filmed in a way that favored this person. I hope there will be no misunderstandings."
