Singer Hye-eun and Jeon Young-rok spoke about absurd death rumors and fake news targeting them.
On the 11th broadcast of MBN variety show Kim Joo-ha's Day & Night, Hye-eun and Jeon Young-rok appeared and looked back on their long careers in the entertainment industry.
That day Hye-eun recounted a story about once giving up singing and running a costume shop. She said, I stopped singing and opened a costume shop in the 1980s. Business was good, but when the song "Monologue" became a hit again, I made a glamorous comeback.
But she also said she suffered fraud during the costume shop operation. Hye-eun recalled, I made a mistake in trusting someone who approached me to go into a partnership.
Hye-eun, who said she then spent about 20 years in a long hiatus, explained, However, the remakes kept doing well, so people didn't even know I was taking a break from activities.
The topic then moved to fake news that troubles celebrities. Hye-eun said, There was a lot of jealousy around me, and there were really many rumors linking me with people I had never even met.
She revealed she was particularly furious over the absurd rumor that she had already died and even had a funeral. Jeon Young-rok also surprised everyone by saying, There were as many as 123 articles about my death rumor. He said a memorial portrait was even made and spread online, drawing the cast's indignation.
Kim Joo-ha also expressed sympathy, mentioning absurd complaints he had suffered. He said, When I used to go in and out of the police station, a woman sued me, claiming I glared at her during the news. He added, The police said they had to investigate and asked why I glared. I said I didn't glare.
In response Hye-eun said, "We're all pitiful people," and Jo Jae-jeu retorted, "My face suffers the most injustice," adding to the laughter.
