Actor Namkoong Min confessed that he became an actor because of his connection with the late Choi Jin-sil.
On the 10th broadcast of KBS2 Problem Child in House, actor Namkoong Min appeared as a guest.
That day Namkoong Min recalled his appearance on the past variety show X-Man, saying "When I was a rookie, hyung Yu Jae-seok really helped me a lot so I could adapt quickly." He added, "I went on variety shows because I was told I could become famous," but confessed, "Actually I have stage fright and trauma about variety shows. Still, I always tried to do it sincerely."
He revealed an unexpected background. Namkoong Min, who graduated from an engineering college, said, "I entered the mechanical engineering department with the goal of becoming a researcher at a large company," and added, "But it didn't suit my aptitude so I gave up graduating, and that's when my wandering began."
He went on to recall, "I happened to see an MBC open recruitment notice for talents on TV and thought, 'Shall I apply once?' People around me also encouraged me to try acting."
But the first attempt was a failure. Namkoong Min said, "I took a profile photo and applied for the open recruitment but was immediately rejected," and said, "Still, I became interested and kept attending auditions."
Afterwards he was chosen as an advertising model through an agency, and there he met the person who would change his acting life. Namkoong Min said, "At the time the late Choi Jin-sil was the main model and I shot the commercial as a sub model," adding, "After the commercial shoot, through that connection Choi Jin-sil introduced me to her company, and through that I began my acting activities."
He continued, "The person who opened the way to acting was exactly Choi Jin-sil," expressing his grateful feelings toward the deceased and bringing a moving moment.
