Chef Im Seong-keun, a government-certified master chef and a popular culinary researcher who appeared on season 2 of Netflix's Culinary Class Wars, has opened a new restaurant and attracted attention by offering apologies to customers.
On the 11th, Im Seong-keun posted on his social media a message expressing sincere thanks to customers who visited the newly opened location and asking for understanding regarding shortcomings experienced on the first day.
Im Seong-keun said, "Thanks to your support, we have finally opened and are able to welcome customers," and offered his first greeting, "First, I sincerely thank the many customers who gave us tremendous support, far more than we expected."
On the first day of opening, a long waiting line of customers wanting to taste Im Seong-keun's food formed from the early hour of 6 a.m., and at one point the waiting list exceeded 220 parties, proving its huge buzz. He said at the time, "Seeing the customers who waited for a long time filled me with indescribable emotion and made me feel a deep sense of responsibility."
However, Im Seong-keun also bowed his head and frankly admitted shortcomings in early operations that occurred as a large crowd gathered.
He frankly acknowledged, "Because it was the first day of opening, many customers came at once and the kitchen and dining staff could not coordinate their movements," adding, "As a result, some responses were lacking and service was delayed." He continued, "Above all, knowing that the carefully prepared ingredients ran out early and that customers who came from far away had to turn back without being able to eat makes my heart heavy and I am sorry," repeatedly expressing his apologies to fans and customers who made the trip in vain.
Im Seong-keun vowed to use this opening as an opportunity to completely overhaul the store's operating system and present more mature service through comprehensive improvements.
He promised, "Starting today, we will immediately reorganize the movement lines of the kitchen and dining areas and thoroughly supplement staff training," adding, "We will also quickly improve the supply system for materials and supplies so that more customers can enjoy satisfactory meals without inconvenience, and we will strengthen all systems."
Finally, Chef Im Seong-keun added, "Because this is a restaurant presented under my name, the 'taste of the food' is a given, and I believe it is proper to provide 'service with dignity' befitting that. We will quickly fill the parts that were lacking and more fiercely preserve the depth of flavor. On your next visit, we will repay you with consistent taste and more mature service so you feel 'the wait was worth it.'"
Im Seong-keun appeared as a White Spoon chef on 'Culinary Class Wars 2' and received significant attention. However, after the broadcast he confessed past convictions including four counts of drunk driving, one count of driving without a license, and one fine for mutual assault, became embroiled in controversy, and subsequently suspended his broadcasting activities. About five months after the controversy, he returned to the public by resuming his primary work of running a restaurant.<
