Actor Namkoong Min expressed affection, saying he not only had a love story with his wife Jin Ah-reum but also watches their proposal video together even after they fight.
On the 10th broadcast, KBS2 variety show Problem Child in House featured actor Namkoong Min as a guest.
That day Namkoong Min recalled his first meeting with his wife, Jin Ah-reum, whom he married after eight years of dating. He said "I was casting for a film I directed myself and 4~5 people auditioned. Unlike others' opinions, she stood out to me," and laughed, "Looking back now, it seems it was personal interest."
The two continued their relationship because of the film, and naturally grew closer thanks to Jin Ah-reum's acting teacher being a friend of Namkoong Min. Namkoong Min said "We exchanged contact information and it led to private meetings," and said "I decided to muster the courage to make a move on this person."
But the first confession failed. Namkoong Min said "I have an impatient personality so I couldn't approach slowly and after drinking I went straight in and said 'Will you go out with me?'" and confessed, "It was such a light confession that I was rejected at first." After returning from an overseas shoot he summoned courage again. He said "I was prepared to give up if I was rejected a second time, but then my wife said 'Let's meet,'" explaining how the relationship began.
He also revealed the behind-the-scenes of the proposal that drew attention. Namkoong Min said "Having watched many films, I thought I must kneel and give a ring," and said "A close couple set up the occasion, hid a camera in a bag and recorded the proposal on video."
He said in particular "When we feel hurt with each other we watch that video," adding, "When you watch it you think 'Is this worth fighting about?' I really think it was right to have recorded the video," creating a warm impression.
He did not hide his affection for his wife. Namkoong Min laughed and said "I often buy gifts like bags or clothes for her."
At first they met through work but they developed into lovers and became a married couple after eight years of dating. Namkoong Min, who recently announced they are expecting a second child four years into their marriage, drew attention by saying the most important value in married life is "The Husband".
