Broadcaster Park Na-rae, who is accused of abusing former managers, was referred to prosecutors.
Seoul Gangnam Police Station on the 10th referred Park Na-rae to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office on suspicion of violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection and special assault, with a recommendation for indictment.
Park Na-rae is embroiled in allegations of power abuse against former managers and illegal medical procedures. The former managers said they suffered damages from "power abuse," including workplace harassment during their employment, proxy prescriptions, and unpaid production fees, and last December they filed a complaint against Park on charges including defamation and violation of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection.
In response, Park Na-rae's side also counter-sued the former managers on charges of extortion and embezzlement in the course of work, showing sharply divergent positions.
Park Na-rae was questioned by police twice in relation to the case involving the manager. After finishing police questioning in February, she said she had "responded sincerely and answered truthfully," but avoided specific comments on the allegations of power abuse and the circumstances of throwing a drink raised by the managers, saying they were "matters to be determined through investigation." After completing a seven-hour second summons questioning, Park Na-rae only said, "I answered the questions sincerely. I think it will be revealed through the investigation. I am sorry for causing concern," and left without making specific comments.
