Singer Lee Hyori burst into tears and expressed deep longing as soon as she heard the late Wheesung's performance of "An Doenayo."
On the 10th, the first broadcast of KBS2's Happy Together revealed the performances of the contestants who would appear on the final stage, with Yu Jae-seok, Yoon Jongshin, Lee Hyori and Jang Hang-jun together.
That day, when Yu Jae-seok said "We plan to select 12 teams for the final stage," Lee Hyori revealed her own judging criteria. She said, "I will pick stories and performances that make me cry or tug at my heart," adding, "I used to cry a lot and get very angry, but now I look for the emotional points that lightly touch the heart."
Next on stage was the team 'Fill in the blank,' which had handled the backing vocals for many hit songs from the late 1990s to the early 2000s. Including Big Mama's Shin Yeon-ah, Kim Hyo-soo and Lee Hyun-jung, they are a representative domestic chorus session that has worked with countless singers such as Wheesung, Gummy, Cho Yong-pil and Lee Seung-hwan. They said they appeared because "we have long worked as backing vocalists but it was regrettable to be buried without a name," adding, "We wanted to fill in our name to the public. This is our first broadcast appearance outside the recording studio."
They then chose the late Wheesung's signature song "An Doenayo" and staged a performance. Only a few seconds after the song began, Lee Hyori's eyes reddened, and she ultimately shed tears.
After the performance ended, Lee Hyori, with a heavy heart, said, "It made me cry and it moved my heart." She added, "There are memories for each song, such as Wheesung's 'An Doenayo' and 'Geureon Il-eun,'" recalling, "They were songs that comforted me when I suffered because of men."
Watching this, close friends Yoon Jongshin and Yu Jae-seok also added, "When Lee Hyori went through difficult and unstable times, Wheesung's songs and the chorus were a great help," and shared memories together.
