An online video predicting the future of actor Lee Jong-suk and IU after their breakup has become a pilgrimage site of interest.
In April, a YouTube channel released a video titled "IU·Lee Jong-suk breakup? A shaman's shocking prediction that their 4-year relationship has ended."
In the video, the shaman conducted a real blind divination having been given only birthdate information. The producers told the shaman only IU and Lee Jong-suk's birthdates and asked for a reading, and the shaman said, "It shows that the bond between these two is cut. I wonder whether they met and then broke up or whether they will meet."
When the producers said, "We know them as a couple," the shaman asked, "Is it true they've been dating for four years?" and said, "It shows they actually broke up a while ago. The breakup was about two to two and a half years ago. Still, the woman is loyal. She has a very open and straightforward personality. She lived a hard life and, having grown up in a difficult environment, is very tough," adding, "The man is sensitive. He used to be very bright but has become calmer with age. His personality does not match the woman's. At first he thought, 'She is my ideal,' so he worked hard and liked her a lot, and the woman appreciated his effort and opened her heart. In the end they met and for one to two years they did well, but their personalities don't seem to match. They would have to make an effort to last, but their bond was short from the start. I think she stayed out of loyalty."
In particular, the shaman said, "The woman seems to have no one to lean on and tries to carry everything herself. Her heart is always heavy, and she relied on the man too much. Even I would find it a bit hard in that situation. The woman carries so much herself, while the man, though calling himself a realist, expects the woman to support him and wants someone motherlike. He is not someone who can contain this woman. And he harbors a certain inferiority complex toward her. I don't know how he can feel such emotions toward his girlfriend, but those feelings rise up unconsciously. These two are better suited as friends."
The video was released on April 5, and three months later, when it was reported that Lee Jong-suk and IU had broken up, it drew attention as a "pilgrimage" video. Lee Jong-suk's side told OSEN on the 10th, "It is true we have broken up. We will remain good colleagues," and declined to comment on reasons for the breakup, calling it "personal privacy."
