Singer Lee Hyori appeared as a special MC on 'Happy Together,' which returned after six years, and joked, "Why am I not a regular MC?" to bring laughter.
On the 10th, the first broadcast of KBS2's new entertainment show 'Happy Together - I'm glad I'm not alone' featured Yu Jae-seok, Jang Hang-jun and Yoon Jongshin as the three MCs, and Lee Hyori appeared as the first special MC.
'Happy Together - I'm glad I'm not alone' is a storytelling music audition program that conveys the power of music through the stories and harmonies of various "life teammates," with Yu Jae-seok who reads people, Jang Hang-jun who captures stories, and Yoon Jongshin who listens to music. 'Happy Together,' which had been loved for 20 years from 2001 to 2020, is a project that has returned anew after six years.
That day Yu Jae-seok introduced the program, saying, "Duets, trios and groups can all participate. As long as you're not alone." He added, "Celebrities as well as ordinary people can participate. Singing ability is important, but a story that moves the heart is more important."
Lee Hyori, who then appeared in the studio, cheerfully greeted the audience by shouting, "'Happy Together' fighting!" Yu Jae-seok and Yoon Jongshin introduced Lee Hyori, saying, "Even though we've known each other for a long time, we're still not comfortable," and Lee Hyori showed off her distinctive presence befitting the star of the 'legendary lying-down broadcast.'
Especially, Lee Hyori, Yu Jae-seok and Yoon Jongshin reunited on variety shows for the first time in about 20 years since SBS's 'Family Outing.' Lee Hyori joked, "I'm grateful that the three of us gathered here again without going to ruin," making the set burst into laughter.
Later Yu Jae-seok mentioned, "Actually, Shin Dong-yeob and Lee Hyori were the original MCs of 'Happy Together.'" Then Lee Hyori immediately complained, "This is a newly starting program, so why don't you call me a regular MC and only have the three of you?" which provoked bursts of laughter. Yu Jae-seok replied, "She's a big-star specialist guest," and Lee Hyori couldn't hide her laughter.
Lee Hyori also candidly said, "Actually I always turned down offers to be a judge," and added, "I thought 'Happy Together' was getting back together so I came to chat. I didn't know it was an audition program."
Yu Jae-seok explained, "It's different from existing survival auditions. It's a program where storytelling is more important than competition," but added, "Still, there are passes and eliminations." Then Lee Hyori made a flustered face and asked, "Then what is it?" delivering pleasant laughter from the first broadcast.
